Cumulative Scholarships Awards

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded at the September meeting.

We will be accepting applications from full-time students with declared majors within the Mackay School of Mines at the University of Nevada, Reno. The number and award sizes of scholarships depends on the generosity of donors during the preceding year. Applicants should answer the following in a thoughtful manner.

  1. Describe your field of study and any future academic plans.
  2. Explain the importance of your major in today's society.
  3. What are the most important issues your field of study is facing today?
  4. Why are you a good candidate to receive this scholarship?
  5. Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
  6. From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education?
  7. Please provide your GPA in your field of study and overall GPA.
  8. What professional associations do you belong to?
Responses must be received by June and limited to two typed pages. Applicant's responses will be evaluated by the Section Officers. Successful applicants will be notified by email during August. Scholarship checks will be awarded in person at our first meeting in September.
